Critters for a Cause is now accepting entries for their Logo Tournament. Design a logo for the group for a chance to win $200! The winner's logo will appear on their website, uniform shirts, and even on the side of their Critter Mobile - a converted ambulance used for events. Good luck!

Desktop - When your computer is on, and no programs are open, you are looking at your Desktop. If you work in an office at some boring, life-sucking, dead-end, miserable job, you probably have a desk in your office. On that desk's top are all the pitiful devices that represent the endless string of nothing days and hopeless dreams that have left you empty and taken away all the beauty in your life and all the shining brightness you had ever hoped for. Your computer Desktop is like that desk top except the things you see on it are exciting and fun. That's why you're so happy when you get off work and can come home to your computer.

I was just trying to find a huge list of computer terms so that I could work on some puns. The definitions on this site gave me a nice laugh, more terminology here.

I just signed up for a 30 day membership with CARFAX to obtain a vehicle history report on the ambulance I just purchased. The membership was $30 for a single report, or $40 for unlimited for a month.

Job unstability...

I keep being told by my current boss and my former boss that my job is secure. Yesterday, many more people in our company were let go. Currently there are only 3 people left in the company that give a damn about compliance, privacy, and security. I'm one of them.

I don't feel very secure at the moment and I'm wondering if my days are numbered. I continue to perform, but I now have no budget left for projects which means about 80% of my goals are gone for 2009. I dread having to start a job search again, I haven't had to search for a job since 2003 and right now I don't feel I'm as qualified as I once was for any job.

What do I do next? I certainly can't afford my lifestyle or even my place without a job, but I keep thinking about going back to school and working on a degree. Does anyone think I could get a student loan at 28 years old? Maybe I should use this time to really consider my future and where this life of mine is, or should be going..

I'm so ridiculously happy right now. Had a great day at work (full of win), saw an April Fools "joke" that I was sad to find out was a joke and not real, played hockey, and then found that said joke may in fact become real! I'm so happy I could cry myself to sleep!

m4fox and I were out yesterday on a hunt to find some cheap fish for a cat experiment. Upon discovering that Petsmart had already closed for the day, we headed for good'ol Walmart.

We went into the store and down the back wall where fish had once been sold before and found no tanks of fish.

We walked up and down the back of the store wondering if perhaps they just moved the tanks, but only found an isle containing hundreds of fish products, like tanks, food, lights, and gravel.

Our conversation went something like this:

Oryx: WTF, how can they sell fish food and not sell fish?
m4fox: They sell dog food and they don't sell any dogs.
Oryx: Stop twisting my logic!

Showed up at my election location this morning and after I found a parking spot, I walked inside.

I walked the entire length of the school and never reached the end of the line, I estimate from what I could see that there were over 200 folks just waiting in the hallway that I could see. I took a peek into the gym that the voting was taking place in and counted only 6 voting machines.

Maryland law allows up to two hours off of work to vote, there is no way I could have been in and out of there in two hours and make it to our 10:00 am department meeting.

I'll have to try and make it over here in the early afternoon, I hope the lines aren't insane then.

Went skating with three friends, all in motorcycle leathers for Halloween! I had a lot of fun and had a great time. Thanks to nitropup for taking the video of me.

Although they did not have a costume contest, I did win a CD case for the red light, green light Game where you skate when they say green light and stop when they say red light. I got to the wall before anyone else, and I even fell twice while trying. It's a good thing that I was wearing my helmet!

On the way home from dinner, my truck's odometer rolled over to 100,000 miles and I caught it on video! I purchased my 2001 Ford Explorer XLT used back in 2005 with just under 40,000 miles on it and today it reached over-the-hill status. I treated it with some premium BP gasoline as a thank you for giving me years of service with minimal maintenance or issues :)

Spidi R-Course Wind Pro Customization Kit!

The customization kit for my Spidi R-Course Wind Pro suit arrived today! I have no idea what I originally was going to do with my evening, but I spent it ironing the numbers and my name to my suit.

I asked lurene for her opinion about what to do with the R logo on the hump which I really wasn't a fan of (you can see it in the photos of the original decals). While we were coming up with ideas, it hit us. Make it into a hoof!

I trimmed the thermo-adhesive parts from the what-was hump decal and successfully converted it into a hoof, complete with dewclaws! The photo below shows it without the dewclaws as it became so late I would rather leave it for another day rather than screwing up the nice work so far!

Unfortunately I have hockey to go to tomorrow so I won't be riding into work (damn!). I really wanted other drivers turn their heads and show it off to the co-workers :D
